Rev. Elexis is the proud daughter of Rev. Clair Wilson and the late Rev. E. Franklin Wilson, as a child of the parsonage; she has lived in Michigan, Indiana, and all over the state of Illinois. She began her studies at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA, and transferred to Eastern Illinois University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in English. She earned a Master of Science in Human Behavior in 2014 and a Master of Psychology in Applied Behavior Analysis from Capella University in 2017, and a Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary. She is co-vocational, also serving as a Behavioral Analyst specializing in behavioral change for children and adults with social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Rev. Elexis is Board President of Building Life Community Center in Champaign, IL. She answered her call to ministry in February 2016 under Rev. Adrian Johnson and has served under Rev. Dr. James Miller and Rev. Conitras Houston Dickens, leading Christian Education, Youth Ministry, and Media Ministry and supporting the WMS.

She believes in authenticity, transparency, and speaking truth to Power for God’s Word. One of her favorite scriptures is Ephesians 3:20. In early 2024, Pastor Wilson married Pastor Terrance Thomas of Bethel AME Church in Champaign, IL.
